Program Description

True To You (T2Y) Mentoring Services coordinates 1:1 and group facilitated services to youth and young adults. With a focus on the whole family, our mentors will construct goals and program success measures derived by implementing the entire family as the foundation for delivered services. Activities with the mentee will be provided in the community and at the office of Friends of True Square Foundation, Inc.

Mentor Role Description

Provide guidance, support, and companionship to each mentee. The T2Y mentor will coordinate communications with parent(s), schools, employer, etc. as needed to solicit a cohesive and engaging environment for the mentee. Mentors will provide guidance, structure, and counseling to assist the mentee in their goals and aspirations.

Academically at-risk, College / post-secondary student, Foster, residential or kinship care, Gang involved, Incarcerated parent, Low income, Single-parent household, Youth with disabilities, Adjudicated / court involved, First-generation college, Gang at-risk, Homeless / runaway, LGBTQ youth, Mental health issues, Pregnant / parenting, Special education

Mentor Training

T2Y Mentors will be training on the following but limited to: Roles and Responsibilities, Goal setting, Family Interaction, Social Structuring, Peer and Group Concepts of Mentoring, Mandatory Reporting, Ethics, and Resource availability.
